In a 234-193 vote, the House approved a Senate-passed measure that expands background checks for gun buyers 21 or younger, provides grants to states for “red flag” laws that enable firearms to be temporarily confiscated from people deemed dangerous, and includes money for mental health and school safety. Fourteen Republicans and all Democrats voted in favor. President Biden signed the bill into law the next day. close
