“I hope it means more for the future than for me,” said outgoing House Science Committee Chair Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX) on being the first African American and woman to lead the committee. The representative, who was retiring after 30 years in Congress, spoke with C-SPAN to reflect on her life and career in politics. Representative Johnson talked about her legislative accomplishments, her support of women in STEM education, and said when she left Congress, she would “miss the tough schedule, the challenge.” close
