A congressional committee convened to hear testimony concerning discrimination by insurance companies. The Senate BankingCommittee met Wednesday to discuss allegations of insurance company discrimination against minority homeowners. Testifying at the hearing are Assistant Housing Secretary Roberta Achtenberg and Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, Deval Patrick. The hearing focused on a report released by the National Fair Housing Alliance. The report documented widespread discrimination by insurance companies against minority homeowners. The Alliance examined insurance practices in Chicago, Atlanta, Milwaukee and Louisville, KY. close
