Administration officials outlined President Bill Clinton’s efforts to help refugees from the civil war in Rwanda. The war started after the assassination of Burundi and Rwandan presidents three months ago. More than a million people fled their homes in Rwanda following a civil war that left a new government in power. Relief workers said a thousand refugees died every day from cholera and other diseases. This briefing followed a short briefing by the president on the situation in the Central African country. close
