Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers, interviews, and viewer comments. Topics focused on the first 100 days of the 104th Congress. Karen Hosler, Baltimore Sun reviewed debate on the Republican tax proposal in the House. Don Imus discussed comments made by Senator Alfonse D’Amato (R-NY) on the Imus radio show. Senator Howell Heflin (D-AL) and Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) discussed the top stories in the morning newspapers. Tom Schatz, Citizens Against Government Waste and Robert Borosage, Institute for Policy Studies reviewed the first 100 days of the 104th Congress. Richard Sammon, Congressional Quarterly also reviewed the first 100 days of the 104th Congress. White House Policy and Strategy Director George Stephanopoulos gave the administration’s views on the “Contract With America.” Paul Starr, The American Prospect, Co-Editor previewed the issues which the Congress and the administration will be faced with in the future. close
