Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Goodgame talked current events including the debate between congressional Republicans and President Clinton over Medicare, Medicaid and the budget. In the newspaper roundtable, Ms. Cammermeyer, author of Serving in Silence, and Ms. Laxalt discussed current headlines, including racial relations. In the next segment, Rep. Bono talked about his career in Congress and his current bill dealing with the judicial review of state refernda. In the next segment, Mr. Moore and Mr. Hill discussed a new proposal which would create an employee database to help identify illegal immigrants. In the final segment, Senator Rockefeller discussed the debate over Medicare and Medicaid reform before Senate Democrats held a hearing on the subject. close
