After a brief recess, the House reconvened. The session started with a series of one minute speeches, when a member can speak on any subject for one minute. The House then took up consideration of bills concerning the national debt and saccharin notices required to be posted in stores. Also under consideration was a bill concerning carpooling in some U.S. cities. Other bills were also considered under suspension of the rules. Following legislative work, the House recognized members for special order speeches. close
