Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Dupree talked about current political issues including problems caused by the budget dilemma and the upcoming presidential elections. In the newspaper roundtable, Ms. Lowey and Mr. Naisbitt talked about current issues including welfare and the budget. She talked about the presidential candidates and her first vote by telephone. In the “Point/Counterpoint” segment, Ms. Claybrook and Mr. Mason talked about campaign finance reform. In the next segment, Mr. Griffin talked about the legislative affairs of President Clinton and his office in past years including the budget. In the final segment, Mr. White talked about the stolen Greek artifacts that have been recovered and are on display on Capitol Hill. close
