President Clinton again paid tribute to French assistance to the United States during its struggle for independence and to their continuing assistance in areas such as Bosnia. President Chirac thanked the president for his hospitality and U.S. assistance during two world wars and expressed his desire to continue both nations' strong commitment to liberty.
