After attending the meeting between President Bill Clinton and seven southern governors concerning church fires in the southeastern U.S., Vice President Gore and several administration officials briefed reporters on the results of the meeting. Vice President Gore announced that President Clinton has directed FEMA Director Witt, Attorney General Reno and governors to form a national strategy to help prevent more fires and rebuild already damaged churches. close
