The members of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Subcommittee heard testimony from consumer advocates and legal experts on S. 1860, legislation which would allow U.S. drivers to select from traditional tort liability coverage and no-fault coverage, which would only cover them against economic losses. They testified about how this would reduce insurance premiums, make the insurance system more capable of handling accidents and frivolous lawsuits more difficult. Jamie Court testified about how these changes would negatively affect consumers. Senator Mitch McConnell R-Kentucky spoke first about the Bill. close
