Republican members of Congress urged President Clinton to help them change income tax rules which they claim penalize married people. Reps. They said that 21 million married couples pay higher taxes than if they were single because filing joint returns pushes them into a higher tax bracket. After their prepared remarks, they took questions from the press. close
