The 'Los Angeles Times', commonly referred to as the 'Times' or 'LA Times', is a paid daily newspaper published in Los Angeles, California, since 1881. It was the largest metropolitan newspaper in circulation in the United States in 2008 and the fourth most widely distributed newspaper in the country. In 2000, the Tribune Company, parent company of both the 'Chicago Tribune' and local television station KTLA, purchased the 'Los Angeles Times' by acquiring its parent company, the Times Mirror Company.
