The case in focus is Dahda v. United States. The justices heard oral argument from both sides back on February 21, 2018. Twin brothers, Los and Roosevelt Dahda, were convicted of leading an interstate drug conspiracy in Kansas. In gathering evidence before trial, the DEA was granted a judge's permission to tap the cell phones of the drug ring. But the judge who granted the request stated that even if the targeted phones left Kansas, the DEA could still continue to intercept communications. Lawyers for the brothers appealed the conviction arguing that the judge's order violated the Wiretap Act that only allows for the authorization of wiretaps by judges within their districts. The Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the conviction allowing evidence from the cellphones to be used against the brothers. Alth
