New York State of the State Address
Governor Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) delivered his annual a state of the state address at the World Trade Center. He talked about the challenges facing middle- and low-income families and offered several proposals, including free tuition at state colleges, increasing child care tax credits, and creating jobs through new infrastructure projects. He also discussed immigration, calling on his state to serve as a "safe harbor for progressive principles and social justice," and announced the creation of a legal defense fund for new immigrants. This was the first of several 2017 State of the State addresses Governor Cuomo gave as part of a three-day regional state tour.
