The Court heard oral arguments in two abortion cases that involve parental notification, Hodgson v. Minnesota and Ohio v. Akron Center for Reproductive Health. In Minnesota, a pregnant minor must notify both biological parents 48 hours in advance of an abortion, with no judicial bypass available. In Ohio, one parent must be notified 24 hours in advance, with judicial bypass available for special circumstances. Extensive footage is shown, including interviews with the lawyers involved and with representatives of various groups. A third abortion case, Turnock v. Ragsdale, was settled out of court. Additional footage and discussion examines the effect of these caseq s on the future of abortion. A preview of a right-to-die case, Cruzan v. Director, Missouri Department of Health, is given the week before the Court hears oral arguments. close
