British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher took part in questioning by Leader of the Opposition Neil Kinnock, Liberal Democrat Leader Paddy Ashdown, and other members of Parliament. Mr. Kinnock focused on the NATO summit and questioned the prime minister’s ability to formulate a policy in light of changes in eastern Europe. Mr. Ashdown questioned Mrs. Thatcher on Britain’s role in the Common Market. Other issues raised included dwindling food supplies in eastern Europe, the ambulance worker’s dispute, the Channel tunnel interchanges, starvation in Ethiopia, and the privatization of Rover-Leyland. close
