Administrator Nancy-Ann Min deParle and Speaker Newt Gingrich spoke about health care issues at an annual American Medical Association conference. She urged members to support the president’s principles for the tobacco settlement, his requests for more research funding and his ideas on expanding health care coverage. She also took questions from the audience. Speaker Gingrich outlined Republican ideas on health care to reduce bureaucratic wasted in the U.S. health care system by eliminating third-party health care payments and ensure fairness in how the government treats patients, no matter what type of insurance they have. close
