President Clinton and others held a news conference to speak about a report released by the White House on school violence. It indicates that ten percent of U.S. public schools experienced violent crimes during the 1996-97 school year with higher incidence rates in large, urban schools. In his remarks, the president also announced the use of $17.5 million in Department of Justice funds to decrease school violence. close
