His book examined the family histories of the slaves owned by his family on plantations in South Carolina.
The family owned over 25 rice plantations with over 4,000 slaves, whose descendants number 75,000 to 1000,000. He used slides of many pictures from the book in his presentation. After his remarks, he took questions from the audience.
