Committee members heard testimony from several members of Congress and others on Social Security reform and the creation of an expert panel to recommend solutions to Congress. They testified about various ideas to keep the system solvent as the post World War II generation retires and the importance of setting up such a panel in order to allow discussion and reduce the influence of politics on Social Security policy.
