Senator Lieberman and Mr. Bennett held a news conference at the annual convention of the National Association of Broadcasters. They expressed their opposition to the content of certain television programs, such as the “Jerry Springer Show,” and called on the broadcasting industry to purchase and produce programs which are less destructive to U.S. cultural values. They also stressed that broadcasters are responsible for the content of their programming and outlined several ways they can implement some level of standards. close
