Attorney General Janet Reno announced that she is setting up a task force to focus on modern-day slavery in the U.S. She cited recent cases of undocumented workers from Mexico as well as migrant workers who are citizens being subjected to modern-day slavery. Attorney General Reno described “sweat shop” conditions in which laborers are forced by armed guards to work 20 hour shifts. The task force will look into legislation to protect such persons. close
