The committee concluded hearings on the nomination of Anthony M. Kennedy to be associate justice of the Supreme Court. Michael Martinez (President, National Hispanic Bar Association) and Antonia Hernandez (President and General Counsel, Mexican-American Legal Defense Fund) did not formally oppose the nomination but have some doubts about Judge Kennedy’s civil rights positions.
