President Clinton recounted Mr. Kim’s history of persecution and danger, and praised his devotion to his country and to democracy. He then called President Kim an “inspiration” to all those struggling against tyranny. President Kim praised Mr. Clinton as a man of “brilliant leadership,” and thanked America for saving his life and his country. He then went on to propose a strengthening of ties between the two countries in economic and security matters. close
