Members of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime heard testimony from law enforcement officials, as well as proponents and opponents of gun control. They testified about national background checks for consumers of firearms and the implementation of the Brady Bill. The bill contained the national background check provision. Purchasers would know within minutes of attempting to purchase a firearm if they met the guidelines of the background check. close
