Senator Smith commented on the president’s misconduct and the moral crisis in the United States. Mr. Melcher talked about the law suit that was put against Judge Moore for hanging a plaque with the Ten Commandments on the wall in his courtroom and for having prayer in the courtroom. Judge Moore discussed the separation of church and state stating that religion played a key role in the framing of the Constitution. He criticized those who saw the Constitution as a secular document, arguing that a national morality resulted when religion and the law intersected. close
