Moderated by Richard Samuelson, was a panel of Jefferson scholars at the 1998 Jefferson Symposium. They discussed the relationship between Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, their contributions to the founding of the United States especially 1776 and the Declaration of Independence, and how they speak to the present. They spoke on the differences between the two men, how Jefferson has monuments built to him and Adams has none, and the iconic terms like Jeffersonian. After their prepared remarks, they took questions from the audience. close
