He strongly criticized the Independent Counsel Statute saying that it had become a political tool used by both Republicans and Democrats to tie up and bring down their opponents. He further argued that the statute, when used for partisan purposes, hurt both good government and the judicial process. After his remarks he answered questions from the audience. close
