The school bus crew visited the Muskegon County Museum to learn about the author of the branded hand poem that was published in various newspapers and magazines. Executive Director of the Museum, John McGarry, talked about the author John Greenleaf Whittier and about the poem, which was written about Jonathan Walker. Jonathan Walker was an abolitionist that was branded as a slave stealer during the time of slavery. close
