Walter Cronkite, who chronicled the accounts of the Apollo missions to the moon for CBS News, presided over a ceremony to commemorate NASA’s 40th Anniversary. Participants marked the 40th anniversary of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration with speeches, remembrances, and historical video footage of early missions. Apollo astronaut John Glenn participated from space in a conversation via satellite link. Senator John Glenn (D-OH) returned to space to research the effects of space travel on aging. He wished Mr. Cronkite a happy 82nd birthday. close
