In this news briefing, President Bill Clinton addressed reporters on the state of the U.S. economy. First, Gene Sperling talked about the Earned Income Tax Credit and the impact it had in helping families. He acknowledged that the Clinton administration was responsible for the tax credit. After he spoke, Amy Hillen spoke about the Earned Income Tax Credit and welfare and the effect these programs had in enabling her to succeed in supporting her family. President Bill Clinton explained how the Earned Income Tax Credit came into existence. He also commented on the improvement of the economy since 1993 and the global economy. close
