Panelists discussed the ethics of the producers' of “60 minutes” decision to air the tape made by Mr. Kevorkian showing his fatally injecting a man who wanted to die. One panelist stated that the producers of “60 Minutes” were more concerned with ratings and advertising revenues than with ethics. Another panelist explained that the ratings for “60 Minutes” were higher for Andy Rooney’s segment than for Mr. Kevorkian’s segment; therefore ratings may not have been a motive for airing the tape. close
