After the presentations a motion to enter depositions into the record passed by a vote of 100 to 0. The Senate then voted on a motion to call Monica Lewinsky to testify, defeating the motion by a vote of 30 to 70. A third vote was taken on a motion and a substitute motion to allow six hours to present the depositions. The unamended motion carried by a vote of 62 to 38. Senator Tom Daschle then offered a motion to proceed directly to closing arguments which failed by a vote of 44 to 56. Counsel for the president made a motion that the House managers notify them of which portions of the depositions were to be used, which failed by a vote of 46 to 54.
