The Supreme Court of the Navajo Nation heard the case of the Navajo Nation v. Russell Means. The case centered around the limits of the tribal court’s jurisdiction. Russell Means was a Sioux Indian who was charged with three criminal counts, and argued that the Navajo Nation had no jurisdiction over him.
