Robert Crandall, Former American Airlines Chairman, spoke about the improvements that have been made in the airline industry to improve the safety of the airlines. He focused on the millions that have been spent on pilot training, airline maintenance and new medical equipment on planes. He also emphasized the difficulty of alerting family members after major airline accidents due to many passengers providing incorrect information when purchasing tickets. He also addressed how the airline industry is dealing with the year 2000 computer problems. After his prepared remarks he answered questions from the audience. close
