After a meeting with President Clinton, the leaders of Northern Ireland political parties talked with reporters separately. Mr. Mallus said that the president understands the situation in Northern Ireland. He responded to questions from reporters about his perspective on the implementation of the Good Friday agreement. He also commented on recent violence in Northern Ireland. Mr. Trimble stated that all parts of the Good Friday Agreement must be implemented or violence might recur. He said that there is no clear solution yet to the situation in Northern Ireland. He mentioned that there are those in the Irish Republican Army who are unable to cope with change, but that change is exactly what must happen. Mr. Adams commented on the murder of Rosemary Nelson and the need for an inquiry into it. He said that he wants to see the peace process move ahead. After their remarks, they answered questions from reporters. close
