After a meeting with President Clinton, members of the Senate leadership and Rep. Hastert talked about potential American intervention in Kosovo since the Serbians have not signed the peace agreement. The question at stake was whether or not to use air strikes in Kosovo given that the use of ground troops was no longer being considered. They responded to questions from reporters. Senator Lott said that until Thursday the Senate had not been properly consulted about the Kosovo situation. close
