The School Bus crew visited the federal courthouse and learned about Judge Sarah Tilghman Hughes, a prominent woman judge from Texas and the second woman ever to be appointed to a federal district court bench. In 1952 at the Democratic national convention, she became the first woman to be nominated for vice president.
