Mr. McSpadden and Mr. Weich discussed the Supreme Court decision that allows a police officer to search a passenger’s belongings. The Supreme Court has authorized searches of automobiles without a warrant as long as the police have probable cause that incriminating evidence will be found within the automobile. They discussed how expanding police powers in car searches may be an encroachment on Fourth Amendment protections. They responded to audience telephone calls, faxes, and electronic mail. close
