Mr. Reid discussed his book Confucius Lives Next Door: What Living in the East Teaches Us About Living in the West, published by Random House. The book examined the countries of Eastern Asia and how they have developed economically and still maintained low levels of crime, drug abuse, and other social ills. He attributed this accomplishment to the ethical values and teaching of the Chinese philosopher Confucius, born in 551 B.C.E. After his prepared remarks he took questions from the audience. close
