Venona: Decoding Soviet Espionage in America
Mr. Haynes talked about a book he co-wrote with Harvey Klehr, Venona: Decoding Soviet Espionage in America, published by Yale University Press. He described how the United States decrypted top-secret Communist information moving between Washington, D.C., and Moscow during the 1930s and 1940s and reveals the full extent of the Communist spy network in the 1940s. Mr. Haynes projected documents during his presentation. After his presentation he answered questions from audience members and then conducted a book signing. close
