In the twelfth in a series on American presidents, the life and career of Zachary Taylor was discussed. Mr. Peak and Mr. Smith talked about various aspects of Taylor’s life including his military career, in which he saw action in wars from the War of 1812 to the Mexican War, his nomination as a Whig candidate, and his death in office. Ms. Rising talked about her research into Taylor’s death which led to the exhumation of his body and scientific tests in an attempt to determine the cause of death. These tests were inconclusive. During the program guests answered viewers' questions and an elementary school student was interviewed. close
