Flag-burning, the right-to-die, abortion, the power of federal judges, and affirmative action were just some of the controversial issues heard this year by the Supreme Court. Legal experts discussed various cases decided by the Court in the past term and the role of particular justices in the decisions. They also discussed remarks made by Chief Justice Rehnquist at the Fourth Circuit Judicial Conference, in which he enumerated several cases he believed to be landmark cases. close
