President Bush discussed the events in the Middle East following a briefing by Secretary Cheney and Chairman Powell. He reported that the forces in Saudi Arabia were equivalent to a large, self-sustaining city. He also reported that the reserves had been called up. He urged the United Nation and the U.S.S.R. to strengthen their support of the sanctions against Iraq.
