President Bush spoke to a group of state attorneys general about the issue of crime. The President thanked the group for their work and said drugs and violent crime remain a top priority for his administration. He talked about the law enforcement experience of Supreme Court nominee David Souter and called for a strong crime bill that would “tip the scales of justice” back toward law enforcement officials. The President also spoke about stiffer penalties for drug dealers and a “real” death penalty. close
