The Senate passed H.R. 1677, the Children’s Television Act, to require the Federal Communications Commission to reinstate restrictions on advertising during children’s television, to enforce the obligation of broadcasters to meet the educational and informational needs of the child audience. The Senate passed S. 1511, the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act, to amend the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 to clarify the protections fiven to older individuals in regard to employee benefit plans. The Senate passed S. 677, to amend the Arctic Research and Policy Act of 1984 to improve and clarify its provisions, after agreeing to a committee amendment in the nature of a substitute. The Senate resumed consideration of S. 1224, the Motor Vehicle Fuel Efficiency Act, to require new standards for corporate average fuel economy, with a committee amendment in the nature of a substitute, and amendments pending consideration.
