The House agreed to the Murtha motion to close the conference committee meetings on H.R. 5803, Defense appropriations, to the public. The House agreed to the conference report on S. 2104, amending the Civil Rights Act of 1974. The House passed H.R. 5422, appropriations for intelligence activities, after agreeing to the Solarz amendment and rejecting the Dellums and Boxer amendments. The Solarz amendment sets restrictions on the distribution of lethal aid to UNITA. The Dellums amendment sought to prohibit covert aid in 1991 to UNITA. The Boxer amendment sought to require the House and Senate Intelligence Committees to approve any U.S. covert activities. The House passed H.J. Res. 649 by a voice vote to extend Most Favored Nation status to Czechoslovakia. close
