The process of a political campaign is explained using examples from Congress. When a candidate announces that he or she is running for office, the campaign is officially underway. A candidate must constantly be circulating and his or her staff is responsible for organizing schedules, the grassroots support, fundraising, and any debates that need to be held. Charles Cook, a political analyst, described the structure of American campaigns. He mentioned that other aspects of a successful campaign include the use of pollsters, media consulting, and advertising. close
