Senators heard testimony from nominees for the posts of Secretary of the Air Force and Assistant Secretary of Defense. Mr. Peters had served as an Undersecretary for 20 months prior to his nomination. Senators asked questions about the F22 Raptor fighter plane, efficiency of military depots and maintaining the C-17 airlifter, shortfalls in Air Force recruiting, continuing technology transfer programs and the Joint Force concept.
